Exhibition
Тhe protesters
The outraged occupied streets and squares in dozens of cities around the globe. Madrid, Wall Street, Egypt, Tunisia, Greece, Turkey, Libya, Brazil, Ukraine, Sofia... The photographers of Reuters, Agence France-Presse and dpa Picture-Alliance were there to record it all.
Time for Outrage!
This clarion call came from Stéphane Hessel, a 93-year-old hero of the French Resistance and co-author of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
His essay Indignez-vous! (Time for Outrage!), written four years ago, swept the world.
The outraged occupied squares, streets and public buildings in dozens of cities around the globe. The wave of protests swept across public squares in Madrid, Occupied Wall Street, Egypt, Tunisia, Greece, Turkey, Libya, Brazil, Ukraine...
Blood was spilled. People died.
In Sofia, the protests lasted for more than a year. They led to the creation of the Bulgarian Protest Network.
The photographers of Reuters, Agence France-Presse and dpa Picture-Alliance were there to record it all. #ДАНСwithme were here.
The photographs they provided us are among the most powerful testimonies to the dramatic nature of the times we are living in.
See them!
The exhibition "The Protesters" is an attempt at a collective portrait of our planet.
An attempt to collectively seek an answer to the question, “Are people tired of being outraged?”
"The causes of the protests will amaze future historians with the diversity of the protesters’ demands. Тhe Occupy! movement swept several continents with the abstract demand for more justice and a better life. Public outrage has unleashed different forces and knocked on different doors, but the goal is one: the protesters don’t want to watch themselves being governed."
