Exhibition
Various selves
Various Selves is a solo Exhibition by Pierre Gonnord from France/Spain in the NATIONAL GALLERY
Pierre Gonnord (b. 1963) is a prominent figure in the world of contemporary photography.
His Solo Exhibition, Various Selves, includes portraits of people from Roma families in Seville, characters from the Venetian Lagoon, residents of the industrial coast of Mestre, and the old ghetto of Cannaregio. Wanderers, workers, homeless people, immigrants and loners encountered on the roads of the Iberian Peninsula.
"I chose people who were far from the material prosperity and the noise of our uniform urban society. I chose people who shine with a different light and have exceptional energy. I wanted to break the silence about these findings and at the same time to preserve the intimacy and mystery... This is my way to mention the social peace that surrounds them, but most of all to pay tribute to our own other selves.”
